The Monza manual box has nothing to prevent it going into reverse ......

That's surprising. My Manta, which was of an age with a Monza, had a collar on the gear lever.

I've only ever sat in one Monza. It was brand new in a showroom just outside Pompey town centre, - the name will come eventually, but it was next door to Serckstat heat exchangers.

try constant-mesh  or better known as crash gearboxes. nearly like an automatic as you only use clutch for stopping and starting. can make a really swift gearchange after a bit of experience matching revs.

yep eaton twin split box is the best of them all done hundreds of thousands of miles with them!!!!
