Trade purchase & locking kit
« on: 28 August 2008, 22:48:13 »

I have been quoted the following prices for parts for my 2.0 ltr engine.

part no  item                       retail price          trade cash price

93174261  timing belt set                 92.00                   86.53

11023582  seal ring                        0.13                     0.13

93156954  Vaux oil filter                   4.27                      6.30  (3 off)

90412686  throttle valve gasket         0.45                     0.45

90501942 cam cover + gasket         99.00                   93.17

Vaux oil for 3 changes ( due to amount of dirty oil in the engine)

I also need to borrow a locking kit, if there is anyone local ish

Can anyone get better prices by quoting a trade card?

Sure someone near you has a TC card to help out.  Big savings on the service items, such as oil and filters etc.

Use a locking wedge, About 4.99 from most factors, the Draper GM one is only a bit of plastic.

Note there is a (sometimes big) difference between trade price and trade club price. If items are on trade club then they will potentially be a lot lower, so worth seaking out someone with a card, or joining ABS.

On you list that will affect cambelt kit, oil filter and oil.

Contitech belt kit from buypartsby plus a QH water pump from the same is my recommendation. Sadly Vx even on TC prices are not so competitive anymore on the cambelt kits.

Cam cover gasket....I assume that price includes the cover as the seal kit is about 25 quid!

Now have a second hand cam cover, from the owner of a Y reg 2.2 with front end damage, he is undecided wether to repair it or transplant the engine into a Frontera that he has in his yard.

i have told him of the forum if he wants to get rid of any or all of the motor.
