Make sure you do not have anything on the daxh which might block the light sensor - eg map, hat, number plate.

only experience i had with this is when i changed the dash bulbs and unplugged the cid. When plugged back in and re built, the head unit only had radio volume, nothing else worked including the cid and climate which had heat and ac but nothing in between only adjustment was fan speed.
I took it all apart and checked the cid plugs, which where locked in place correctly, and then re built it again and bingo, cid, head unit and cc all working
fine. Not sure its relevant to yours as you dont mention any other issues but its all i can offer in clues. Hth some how.  :-/
Could also check the  supply from the vac pipes in the bulk head by the heater matrix pipes.
And the vac pipe on the hbv.

Have you tried resetting it, i think by holding the OFF and AC buttons at the same time for 5 seconds.

Yep, tried resetting, makes no difference.
There is nothing covering the light sensor either.

Could it be something to do with the air sampler sensor????
