odd wobbling at low revs
« on: 13 September 2008, 21:13:36 »

Evening all. I made the following post over at vvoc.com but I thought it would be worth asking here too. I have a Vectra CDX with the 2.5L V6 motor:

I get a weird wobbling in the car when the engine is running slowly, from tickover to about 1500rpm. Kind of feels like something's off-balance or off-centre, like it's only running on 5 cylinders but I've checked the spark plugs and they are all dry so I guess it's firing properly. Could it be a blocked injector?

What else could be causing this? Other than the wobbling the engine seems to be running OK, no obvious banging or tapping and it doesn't seem to be down on power as far as I can tell.

Anyone got any ideas what I should look at next? How do I check the injectors?

I'm not the most mechanically-minded guy in the world so any advce would be very much appreciated.

A vectra? Transverse, front wheel drive, engine mounts ok? Does it have a mount that has to be removed to do the belt? And has it been done up again after? All a complete stab in the dark. I know very little about the veca. Best advise would be to get rid and buy an Omega or course, but that would be a bit cheeky on your first visit. Is it only engine speed related or road speed related as well?
Maybe some more experienced members will know.

Thanks for replying - I changed the top mount just after I got it so I know that one's good, others seem to be OK too. It feels like it's only running on five cylinders but the plugs/leads are OK as far as I can tell which led me to think it might be a blocked injector.

Is there an easy way of checking the injectors are working properly and that fuel is getting to all cylinders?

is the plug wet with fuel? If its a missfire and your sure the the leads are ok ide be checking the dis pac, and the lead connections to it.

All the plugs are dry which is why I think it might be an injector problem. Either that or something completely unrelated. No EML showing either  :-/

What's the best way to check the injectors?
