Tractor themostat
« on: 02 October 2008, 19:04:12 »

I have known for a while that the stat needs replacing on my TD, temp gauge hardly moves sometimes.
Is it a complicated job removing everything to get at it or fairly straight forward. Also would it be a good idea to change the water pump whilst I'm in there, any special tools for that job. And finally after market parts or GM ones recommended.
I have seen some after market parts @ Vauxhall Parts Warehouse on Ebay, any good?

Stat easy - sits at front of engine.  TIS says you need to remove coolant transfer pipe, but I never did.

Stat - 3 bolts, and remove bottom hose.

Need to remove black 'turbo diesel' plastics, viscous fan (might be a pig), aux belt (once loosenen water pump pulley bolts), then you can remove stat and pump.

On tractors, always worth replacing pump
