LPG problem - fault code 0201 (injector valve 1)
« on: 20 October 2008, 12:31:12 »

Hi, just replaced my vapouriser diaphragms and was trying to tune the system yesterday.  Got the software to calibrate correctly but when driving it misses terribly.

Took the car to work last night and then EML appeared.  Fault code is 0201 (injector valve 1) and EML will only come on when switched to gas, the EML will go off immediately after switching back to petrol.

I'm thinking probably spark plug or lead needing changed?  Anyone in the know experienced this before or have an idea what the problem is?

Engine is 2.0l 16v (X20XEV) and has a single point system with OMVL R90/E vap and an AEB 175 Leonardo feedback system.

Sounds to me like the gas system is not providing a load to emulate an injector on Cylinder 1, when it switches to gas. The ECU could well be disabling that cylinder completely in response to protect the cat, hence the misfire. I would check the wiring between petrol injectors and gas ecu and separate emulator if fitted. Maybe something has been disturbed.

Wiring for the injectors is particularly bad on my car so definitely makes sense, I'll have a look.

Cheers Kevin.  :y

Had a look all wires are still connected but I did re-route a wire to get injector fault code away before so thinking it could be that.  Haven't used the gas system since then.

Just curious - would this still apply on a single point system, no injector emulation?

Presumably the LPG system still interrupts the signal to the petrol injectors to stop them firing - so it must provide a load to keep the petrol ECU happy. Unless it disables the petrol by cutting the fuel pump?

Right enough, it does disable the injectors not the fuel pump.  Must have made a hash of it when I last soldered the injector wiring.  That makes sense, thanks Kevin.  :y

That'll most likely be the problem. Kevin beat me to it! ::) ::)

Any other ideas?  Re-wired the whole emulator (because the wiring was so poor) and again no problem on petrol but when it switches to gas the fault code comes up.

Every time I have had a wire come loose in the past I will get a fault code on petrol and will not run properly so I'm sure the problem must be elsewhere now.

Just to add, I've just been running the software and put the diagnosis mode on and it says the o2 sensor is lean too long so how could it be the emulator wiring.  Surely if it wasn't shutting the injector off it would run rich???

As said, I've re-wired it and know there are no broken joints now.  WTF???

I'd suggest checking very thoroughly for any air leaks in the intake... These can throw up all sorts of problems with LPG :-/ :-/
