Strange temp behaviour
« on: 31 October 2008, 00:07:37 »

Car in question is a 1998 2.5 V6 Elite

When i got the car the previous owner told me that it was running a bit warm, thermostat has been changed and the chances are the rad needed flushing. I got it home drove it about for a bit, it did lose some coolant over a week which i think may be the HBV, i topped it up and carried on driving it and the temp was sitting as shown in the piccy

Now this seemed high to me, so i flushed the rad put some fresh coolant in, now when i drive it, it warms up within about 1/2 a mile gets about halfway then the gauge drops to 90 (thermostat opening?) then slowly clims back to around the halfway mark, it never overheats or goes near 100 the fans kick in between halfway and 100 and always take it down to under the halfway ? the heaters work brilliantly.

So am i being paranoid that there is something amiss  ?

funny....the scale I mean. Have a look, it says 90 and 100, and there's several stripes in between... All scales I have seen have 80 degrees and 100 degrees... I would not worry, because your needle is quite in the middle of the range/scale of your meter...
