My car was MOT'd recently and fortunately passed straight through. However, there were a couple of advisories on there:

• Wear to the inside edges of the front tyres
• Lots of travel in the handbrake

I've also noticed a knock sound coming from the front, when the car has been manoeuvering on steep gradients. Which might be the droplinks? (feel free to correct me on that though)

Something I also have to consider at the moment is a potential change of circumstances in the new year, which will necessitate a fair bit more travelling and a need for a more economical vehicle. Now I like the miggy and think that a DIY LPG install may be the way forward, rather than selling it and buying a cheap diesel.

So my questions to you good people:

1) How much does it cost to buy new wishbones/bushes/drop links etc and where is best to get this?
2) Any thoughts on the best place for rear brakes?
3) Who is the best supplier of LPG kit, is it a Motogas sequential? And where would I find such a thing?
4) Who can I bribe to help me with fitting  ;)

1) Drop links I normaly get from Ebay (FAI ones) but, the seller does not seem to have any listed at the moment. For wishbones there are a number of options from re-bushing your own (Merle bushes cost about 40ish quid), Complete Lemforder wishbones for about 120 a pair delivered from autovaux to pattern items at 50 ish a pair delivered.

I've already looked through Kevin Wood's excellent picture thread on his LPG installation and I would be more than confident to attempt a lot of the work myself. The only thing I'm hesitant about is when it comes to drilling holes in the engine for the injectors etc, that's a bit much for me I think. But I'll worry about that closer to the time!

First thing to do is sort out the rear brakes, then the wishbones / droplinks. The LPG won't be a consideration until early in the new year.

Basically because I don't enjoy working underneith a car that's on stands, for longer than I can help, if I'm doing it regularly. It's a killer on the back, and when doing it on a mobile basis, you can never guarantee what kind of a driveway / surface the customer will have.

I get much more pleasure out of engine work, and because I've got more than enough of that to keep me happy, combined with the fact it's a lot safter than working under a car that's on stands - that's what I prefer do.

My insurance covers me for the lot, but it's just something I'm not so keen to do - personal preference really.

Get yourself a spare pair of inlet manifolds so you can fit the injectors without taking the car off the road.

1) As Marks DTM Calib - if only droplinks £7 each off ebay, wishbones FAI off ebay.
2) Dont buy gen Vx handbrake shoes - expensive - get pattern perfectly ok.
3) Ask JamesV6CDX for advice

If anyone wants inlet manifolds fitted with LPG nozzles, get a spare manifold and a set of nozzles to me and I'll happily drill and tap it.
