just brought a 2002 2.6 v6 Elite and it has a message appear saying check headlight range they are the new blue type lights any ideas ?

this could be a problem with the level senor on the front suspension arm, they do seem to break now and then or the level motor on the lights could be disconnected. Are they xenon lights, as you describe them as blue effect bulbs, then the prob points at the sensor or motor.

yeah they are the xenon light is it expensive or reasonable as i may aswell get them fixed at same times as getting my cam belt done

There's 2 level sensors, one as said FNS wishbone and another on rear near side radius arm. Both level switches are the same & are £50odd each. You need codes read to determine where the fault lies though.

As Andy B said above or could be servo motors on back of light units.  Code reader should narrow fault down.

it may be that the arm/ball joint has fallen out of the socket on the sensor. They move with the suspension and are a bit exposed to spray in the wheel arch area so they dont last forever. Pack with grease and push back on, however if it re occurs its buggered.
