Little Faults.
« on: 24 November 2008, 23:57:02 »

Hello All, I have a V reg. Omega cdx 2.0 Auto: The iritation is opening the boot from on the dash, when returning with shopping and for getting my walker out. Why no key for the Boot. The Book shows a three position Key, mine has two ?? -- Why did vauxhall not include a Dipstick for the Autobox oil check ?? Some cars have had these for decades. --- BTW. i never realised that Omega's was so popular.
A lovely car for comfort, but i still have not got conversant, with all the buttons on the dash. If those two 'faults' were not there, the car could be perfect.

hi Scorpio, is'nt that a ford? and a rival to the omega at that? Anyway, yes i agree the boot arrangement on the mig is a little strange, and a little indifferent i find. The old shape omega had a key and just unlocked with the central locking. Only thing i can think is the lack of a latch  stops pikeys robbing your boot at the lights? Personally i think the boot should pop fully open when the button is pressed. Also see hilpers boot mod in the guide section(i think)might be of help to you. There are some side effects though and not a good idea if you have kids in the car. Just re read your post, your key should have a third button for the boot i believe, as mine does. Give The Boy on here a pm and see if if can help. He sorted me out, told me how to get a key sorted for far less money than the stealers want. Youll need your car pass and a trip to a tech 2.

Vx treat the auto box as a sealed unit. So no need to mess with it according to them. We however, know different, general thinking on here, and according to the service interval guide, change atf every 60k iirc. Some boxs do considerably more miles than that before any problems, did mine at 70k just after i bought it.

In answer to the boot issue.....somebodyt has replaced the key(s) with the wrong type as it should be a 3 button one.

As for the auto box. Welcome to the modern world where pretty much all of them are sealed sadly!

Hi Chrisgixer/Marks Dtm Calib, Thanks for your help. Boot lock Strange ?? Why could the 'Boffins' not adapt the old conventional way of placing the lever inside on the floor, near the Drivers seat, together with the petrol Cap Lock ?? -- Safe and Secure, and of course, easier for Driver Access!! (beats my thoughts) - as for the Auto box being a
sealed unit ?? That  is rediculous!! But ?? Good for The Garages to replace the box, because of Problems??Having read about replacing the Auto box Oil, it is not an easy job for all the omega owner's.
So much for Modern Technology. Remember the Good old six inline car engines, when one could get under the bonnet and everything was 'exposed' and easy ??(self service):
