Noisy hydraulic lifters (part2)
« on: 28 November 2008, 22:01:59 »

Hi Gang,
Many thanks for the help/ replies on the last post. The general concensus was probably blocked or partially blocked oilways causing the lifters to "rattle" for the first few seconds on startup from cold. And several oil changes was one of the answers.
Would it be a prudent move to go thinner or thicker on viscosity on the oil (even if for just short term). And also what are your thoughts on adding an additive such as slick 50, wynns stp, or even neat diesel as someone suggested, or anything else? Thanks in advance,
and kind regards,
Andy. ;D

In my experience? All unnecessary. Just change the oil. Problem went away in a couple of days and has not returned. I realisie however some people may have a more persistant issue...in which case change the oil again?
