would the GM L81 motor out of a Saab 9-5, Saab 900

hi , would the GM L81 motor out of a Saab 9-5, Saab 9000 bolt right up to my catera transmission ? Somebody said it would and I really need to find out so I can get my car back on the road asap . I was told these engine were the same but the guy didnt say if it would bolt right up to the transmission . THANKS ALOT to anybody who can shed some light on the situation .

yes afaik the saab engines bolt straight on.
if it's the 2.0 then i think it's a taller engine than the 2.3 though (incase your going for a 4 pot engine)

would all the wiring stuff just plug in to each other ?? Thanks alot man .  if i can drop the saab v6 in their i can save myself alot of money and time . Plus i have somebody that wants to buy the car and has cash waiting .

I doubt very much if your wiring is just going to plug in. Your car has 6 cylinders, the Saab has 2 missing ......  ;D ;) ;)

he was talking about the saab 2.5 v6 andy :P

I meant only the saab v6 motors . I can wire the stuff up as long as I have a wiring diagram of both cars . Im really good with wiring stuff up . Thanks guys .

I thought those saab v6 motors were 3.0 liter ?

theres two v6's
the earlier 2.5 in the 9000 and 900 i think and then the later engine in the 9-5 which came either non turbo charged or turbocharged ;)
(engine codes were B305 and B305E)

Turbo charged 3.0, mmm interesting. What power did they produce?

They produced no more than the normaly aspirated 3.0....but with a bit more torque.

The basic engine from the Saab is the same, the aux mounting brackets, sump, inlet, exhaust manifolds etc are all different.

Swap the ecu sensors over and use the original loom and it should be pretty staright forward.
