Knock Sensor (bank 1, code 16)
« on: 09 December 2008, 08:02:07 »

Bit of am intermittant flickering EML on Ljays MV6....
Codes read - 16 knock sensor bank 1, drivers side

Out with the torch last night, and the cable has moved from where it was routed after the cambelt change, and the Aux belt has been rubbing on it.

Couldnt see quite how bad the damage was by torchlight in the rain :(
certainly some of the screening has been worn through.

Question is, where should the cable be routed?  and How are these after repair, doesnt look to be a lot of access to repair it if needs be, whats involved to replace it?

Sounds like some poor workmanship to me.

Easy enough to repair the cable....particularly if you have a half decent soldering iron.

Have to hold my hand up to that one!  not sure where it should have been routed though, possibly the wrong side of that funny cable tray contraption, will have to look at mine I think.

Sure I have a nice soldering iron and good selection of bits as well ;)

I always set the cable run so it is behind the aux tensioner mount.....that way it cant get near the aux belt.

Still.....with a knock sensor code the unit will be about 30% down on power......so that will keep the reigns on Mrs Jimbob ;D ;D

Swings and roundabouts, also swapped the vac pipes around so she has working multirams as well now  ;)
