Stored Fault Codes
« on: 19 December 2008, 10:53:47 »

Have been keeping an eye on two stored fault codes (no EML) 0170 and 0173 after I had LPG mapping redone. I have checked these using the pedal test and have now noticed another stored code namely:-
P1700 Service Vehicle Soon Request from Transmission Control Module
Two questions:
First - Mig is not due for svce until April 09, no other probs, leaks etc apparent. Had it from new and only covered 32000 so is in mint condition. Should I be concerned about this code?

Second - will the other two codes eventually disappear (been there about 2 months now) or should I reset with my code reader as LPG mapping now appears to be OK. Have a trip up to Leeds over crimble so this would be a final test that the mapping is now OK.

0170 and 0173 are fuel trim codes, and, if they are still current, they suggest the LPG mapping is not 100% accurate as the main ECU is having to apply too great a correction. I would clear them and see if they come back, which they normally will within a day or two of use. If they come back, I'd go back to your LPG installer as the mapping is not right... unless these codes return when running on petrol too, which would indicate another problem.

Regarding the gearbox code the gearbox ECU really needs to be interrogated to get a more specific code. It's an indication that the gearbox has told the engine ECU that it's not happy.

Kevin thanks for that. I will reset fuel trim codes after trip to Leeds and will then run on petrol for a couple of days when back home. I have a feeling that the LPG mapping is only incorrect at the top end as it seemed to occur after a long motorway drive at 90mph 70mph. Unfortunately there are not that many roads around here that the LPG live data can be looked at whilst at this end of the range. This is a Zavoli system. I do not have the S/W for it but understand that the LPG ECU uses AEB software which is pretty much a standard. I am aware that you have a lot of experience on all of this having done your own conversion and am beginning to wonder if I could plan a trip to Hants in the new year if you would be available to take a look at it? Don't know whether my code reader will look at autobox codes. Will have a go at weekend!!
