Aircon - Facelift - Normal??
« on: 21 December 2008, 00:30:54 »

Firstly...

If I've pressed the "Eco" button, whenever I start the car, it flashes - is that normal?

Also, if I turn the air-con on (by pressing the "Eco" button), the rev's fluctuate.  But, with the bonnet up, the bit at the front of the air-con compressor (with the three knobs on) doesn't start spinning - nor do any of the fans.

Is this right??  :-?

the flasing aint right, wonder if this is how the ac ecu tells of an ac problem, similar to the pre face lifts -- on the temp. display????

eco turns the ac pump off! by pressing the eco button you are selecting economic mode.

to check the pump select lo and eco off, if the knobs aint aint spinning you have an issue, no gas probably :(

Sorry - happen I should explain a bit more clearly...  :-[

If I leave the car in "eco" mode and switch the ignition off, the next time I start it, "eco" flashes on the climate control display.  Is that not normal?   :-?

And I've had the bonnet up and switched "eco" off, but the 3 knobs on front of the A/C compressor don't spin (bottom right-hand of the engine - that's it ain't it?) but the revs fluctuate??

The same thing happens on mine.  When I have the ECO on and switch the car off, then switch it back on, the ECO flashes for about 3 seconds.  I always thought this was normal, and my climate seems to be working fine.

It's completely normal for the ECO light to flash if it's been left on.

It's cold weather at the moment - perhaps too cold for the air con to engage anyway? However, in normal circumstances the compressor should engage and the front fans should start on low speed.

Your code 1530 indicates that the air con compressor relay circuit is open. I suspect this is the problem. This circuit drives relay K60 in the underbonnet relay box next to the battery, via fuse F29, so I suspect something in this area is playing up.

Tech 2 won't tell you much, unfortunately. It can talk to the climate panel but I think the problem is with the air conditioning circuit itself.
