How to Jump start with Omega
« on: 01 January 2009, 13:58:20 »

Happy New Year to All  :y

My new year didn't get off to a good start. One of my cars has a flat battery today. So I thought I'd use the Omega to give it a jump start, but I can't find the positive terminal. The negative terminal is exposed. There is a plastic thing over the positive terminal of the battery, which I unclipped but underneath that was an array of wires and fuses and I still couldn't see the terminal.

Plan B was to drive the Omega to the local motor factors and pick up a new battery. However, when realising it was closed I had no choice but to go to plan C which was to put the battery of the other car on charge. I'm just grateful the Omega's battery isn't flat. I've no idea how to change that   ::)

There are several thick wires connecting to the root of the positive (red) pole, but there should be ample bare metal to hook a 'crocodile' jump lead on it.

When I had battery/charging problems on my diesel Astra I asked a builder for a jump start from his newish Transit. Between the pair of us we couldn't find the battery at all! :-? Fortunately there was a +ve terminal under the bonnet that we used.  :y

We looked ...... not saying it wasn't there ...... but we couldn't see it. ;D Various cars over the years have had their's in the the boot too. I suppose it gives a bit of room under the bonnet for other things.
