Adjusting streeting box
« on: 08 January 2009, 09:39:18 »

I lknow that it has been coved before so forgive me , but looking to check to see if i can take out some of the play from the box. Could anyone give me a step by step  run over how this is done as is my 1st time and do not what to mess things up. I think that i can see the box at the back of the engine drivers side ( metal box with a nut in the center.

Thanks

Steve.

VX advice is that it is self-adjusting and no manual adjustment possible.

I'd probably only fiddle with it if it was bad enough to change anyway (i.e. MOT failure). Be interesting to hear from those who've tried though.

It's normal to feel play with the engine off. Until the fluid is pressurised there is some slack in the box.

That`s the locking nut. Slacken off, tighten the screw with small increments (quarter turns max) checking each time. Should make some difference if there is not excessive wear in the box already :y
