Slight engine vibration at idle?
« on: 13 January 2009, 08:21:43 »

I have just returned from 5 weeks abroad, [ had a Holden Commadore Omega SV6 as a hire car,   :D :y , why haven't we got these cars here?]

Back to the question, running ours again it has a slight & annoying vibration at idle, it's the same on gas & petrol so I am thinking it's either a valve sticking or electrical.
Does a misfire cause the V6 to lump? is it pronounced? Also has anybody experienced a sticking valve?
It  still accelerates ok but fuel economy is down so something is amiss. I was looking for ideas before I jump in, probably first will be spark plugs & work back. Is there an additive if it's a sticking valve which works? heads off is a last resort at present. It's too bloody cold. ;D

NEVER seen a stciking valev so that is very unlikely.....

Start with the ignition system checking for oil in the plug wells and examine the state of the leads.

Hi, Thanks, forgot to say I had the leads off the plugs & sprayed WD40 just in case of damp. No oil in plug wells apart from middle drivers side. there is a little about 1 mm deep. Would a misfire cause the engine  to lump. I could try pulling all leads in turn to see if theres a difference? & look in the dark to check on tracking.
