« on: 22 January 2009, 08:57:52 »

As Above...I have managed to run out of fuel 3 times now and each time gets harder to restart the car as no doubt fuel filter is full of crap from the bottom of the tank...so where is it? lol  :y

Where is the Fuel Filter on a V6??

Im suprised a chap of your calibre not knowing where the filter is  ;D ;D

but seeing as noone has told you yet, they are in the same place no matter the engine size, well as long as its petrol that is..

its usually the pipes going to/from this that can break when some ham fisted mech tries to change it, as I found out one service or 2 ago.

take your time, and watch you dont get an eye or mouthfull of petrol, mmmm stingy... :D

Ooo yeah, had a taste of petrol before trying to syphon some off and the taste is foul and lasts for ever over riding the taste of everything else!  :D

Unlike Markey Mark I'm not a mechanic and only gain info when I need to do something or ask lol On the plus side I have a good memory for things and generally dont forget (apart from the names of things lol)

Never understood that one. :-? :-?

As fuel is always taken from the bottom of the tank (otherwise you would run out before the tank was empty) any muck in the fuel, that I believe is only from old garage tanks, not modern filling station forecourts, is continually sucked from the tank and taken to the filter.  So it is the mileage that fills the filter, not running out of fuel too often! :D ;)

In addition when you fill up anyway, regardless of what's left in the tank, the force that fuel is placed into the tank by modern forecourt pumps sends any dirt at the bottom of the tank all over it! ::) ::)

I am good (and always have been) at taking things apart  ;D But only know where things are if I have taken them off, can never be bothered to read the Haynes manual (but then who can!)

Getting better over time at actually fixing things, changing things etc...reckon I could fit a replacement engine from having removed 20 or so, but changing a fuel filter...way beyond my current level of expertise  :D

Actually think I could probably (in theory) do just about anything on the Omega v6 now...but still some unexplored areas...like changing a fuel filter!!  :y

I'm sure your gonna see some more daft questions from me in the near future like which bit is the drop link?? And which bit of the steering arm actually is the steering idler...
