Crank Sensor Wanted
« on: 02 February 2009, 11:49:25 »

Hi Guys,

Sorry for posting this here but for some reason I cant post in the wanted section?

I am looking for a crank sensor for a 1997 2.5 V6 omega estate, and wandered if anyone had one they wanted to sell, looking for a new one really.

I have some photos of the old connection and it looks to be oblong with rounded corners so not really an oval shape?

Cheers

I wouldn't buy a secondhand one and I can't see anybody having a new one sat around, they would have returned it to Vauxhall for a refund if it wasn't needed so the quickest option would be a visit to your main dealer being honest ;)

Buy new. Really not worth the time and effort messy with old ones.

Its not the sensor that appears to fail, but the cable, due to internal brittleness

Errm... I have!!! It was supplied in error but like a muppet I opened the bag before I checked ::) ::) ::) :-[ :-[

Have advertised it a while back and then chucked it in a box in the study and forgot about it ::) ::) ::)

It's still available and is a square plug, metal body type. Igot a good deal on it when I bough it so was reluctant to take it back as someone here may well benefit from saving £15-20 on it :y :y :y

Like every sensible V6 owner, I always keep a spare ;D.  It goes in the boot on long journeys as well.

Trust me, its a bloody long way home when it fails  :-[

Keep meaning to get a spare for the boot ::) ::) ::)

I'll add it to the shopping list next time I go visit andyc :y :y :y

At a push I could probably "adjust" the square plug to fit :o :o :o

As an aside, I was reading the Rover workshop manual, and you have to remove FIP to do the glowplugs :o

Its quite common to replace 3 glowplugs and leave the 4th well alone ;D

My tractor survived well on 1 out of 6 working glowplugs, until the cold weather just after christmas....
