Bulbs blown on multi function display
« on: 05 February 2009, 10:43:17 »

Hi Guys,

Have just had a bulb blow in the dash that eluminates the multi function display and also the one next to it that lights up the rev counter I think (2001 Elite). Both have gone at the same time or it could be the same bulb that lights up both that has gone.

Has anyone ever attempted to replace dashboard bulbs themselves, and if so is it just not worth it or is it easier than I imagine it would be to do?

I know that any garage will sting me a couple of hundred quid to change a bulb that costs about 50p

Bit of a pain in the a@@@ as I cannot see the time/fuel/radio etc so it is the worst bulb to blow. >:(

Very easy to do.  Have a look in the Maintenance section for a guide on it.  Most people here would have removed their clocks at one time or another for the same thing I would imagine.

Thanks for the 2 above tips, much appreciated  :y

I looked in the main section under "How to Remove Clocks Panel" and there is even a video clip of it (could not find anything on actually replacing dashboard bulbs). I am presuming that once the clock is out I will find the blown bulb there somewhere where I can replace it, either in the clock unit or underneath where I take it out from.

It is much easier than I thought (mind you, have not done it yet!)
I remember having a bulb blow on a Jag I used to have and they said that the whole dashboard had to come out  :-/ think by the size of the bill, they had me done a kipper. I assumed the Omega would be the same.

Cheers fellas

10-15mins to pop dash out - you will see bulbs on back of dash. Just swap out and dash back in.
