Quite possible. If the ecu cant tell where the crank is, the spark timing will be out and it wont fire. It would be nice to have fault code confirmation but  no code is not unusuall. Have you had any other instances where the car has cranked but not started? This is usually a sign, but not always...

presume you are at least getting code 12 to rell you that diag. sequence is starting ? If not  could the eml bulb be blown/missing ?
If you are getting code 12 but no others then I doubt its a crank sensor problem. :-/
Crank sensor should give a code 19 with engine running, not sure when not running.

Hi guys
Thanks for all your help, yes eml light does work, code 12 for the start but nothing else, been starting ok beforehand but thinking, when you floor the pedal it thinks about it for a second then it nails you, like a turbo kicking in, once i get the front put back after taking it apart for the cambelt check i'll give it ago.
               Thanks  :y
