2.2 Coil Pack - Cause for concern?
« on: 01 March 2009, 14:09:12 »

Recently under heavy load the car seamed to miss-fire, its generally when booting it and from about 3.8k rpm to 4.5 it judders and seams to hold back then pull again, then hold back. It seams ok 4.5k plus right up to the red line.

Took the coil back out, tiny bit of oil in the wells, did the cam cover with genuine parts around 8 months ago. took the plugs out (8 month old gm ones) replaced them with new gm ones. Will see what affect that has, but looking at the coil pack i noticed a few burn marks....

Is it burning & cracking up?  :'(

Doesn't Father Tunnie have a 2.2?
If so swap the coil packs and see if your fault disappears.

Run it with the econtech cover off in the dark, and have a look see if there's any arcing.

looks breaked to me mate. The white residue looks like the sparks escaping at the very point. But its not really relevant if you have a known good one to borrow. Or swap with you Dads and dont tell him. :-)
