Few headlight questions
« on: 04 March 2009, 14:17:28 »

Well, i got bored today and decided to strip down my headlight and spray the inside (as a few have done previously).

1. Is there an easier way to get them apart? i used a screwdriver on the "lens" part of the headlight, but its left the housing a bit mangled all the way around.

2. when i was spraying i masked off the needed reflector parts of the headlight, but on removing the masking tape its taken off the the silver... is this just the silver effect paint or what? and how do i correct it?

3. is there anywhere that sells replacement lenses? mines are looking a bit cloudy and shabby, so would be nice to put on clean new ones

cheers  :y

you can clean up the lenses really nicely with some 2000 grit wet&dry and plastic polish

easiest way to seperate the lense is to put the headlight in an oven to soften the glue....then just pull apart!

if your adjuster is snapped and the silver is coming off the reflector AND the lenses are clouded i'd consider buying some new ones ::)

I am, but with being unemployed, having a son and trying to keep a house - the car is the bottom of my list (its not even on the road anymore). Just wanted to try my hand at spraying them  :y
