Would appreciate if anyone knows the procedure for updating the Sat Nav on a 2002 3.2 Elite.
Cheers

They are updated by inserting a more upto date disc.  At least thats what I had to do on mine.  Make sure you use a genuine one if searching on E-bay.  Copies kill the lasers......   :y

see the Navtech web site for genuine, about £70 or £80 iirc or try German ebay for genuine discs only as said. The optics in the head unit cant cope with writeable media, strain and wear out.

Personally not bothered about updating my 03 disc, 08 gives no improvement in functionality.... and map updates, well, what you going to do at a new road layout? Drive over the roundabout, or whatever? No , save your money if you ask me. But each to their own... :-)

As H21 says, just get a later map disk will update the software on these Siemens VDO units.  First time it goes in, it takes about 2 mins to update the navigation system software.

Navteq sell them direct from their site.

Please note that the last system software update appears to have happened around 2004/2005.  Whatever, no postcode entry if that is what you are after.

Surely the updated maps is the primary reason for updating  :-/

Your 03 map, for example, would be useless to me, as it is missing a major new road near me, and instead would try to send me down the old road which is full of dead ends now.

Each system software update was to fix issues, rather than add new features, with the exception of TMC which was properly implemented in 2004 disk (not that it works in UK, as you know).

2008 disc added in a lot of missing roads on mine from the 2002 disc.

I still apparently drive across a field when I go to the stables though  ::) ;D

Are the stables in the middle of a field though? ;)

Yes.... But the A429 Barford Bypass hasn't quite made it onto the 2008 disc.  ;)
