power steering pump of steering rack
« on: 08 April 2009, 21:21:22 »

steering a very stiff and jerky, when the engin is revved it eases, i have arranged for a 2nd hand pump from an oofer, but the mechanic says it could be the rack, surely if it was the rack then the steering would be the same weather the egin was revved or not, some times its worse than other times

It certainly wont be the rack as the Omega does not have one.......which makes you cast doubt on the comitence of (yet another) mechanic!

It has a steering box and the symptoms sound like a tired pump.

sound likes pump, but could be wrong.  mine was making a nasty grinding noise, replaced and all is well.

your initial reaction of tired pump sounds most feasible :y
