Engine warning light?

Hi everyone the engine warning light came on today and the car is running ok just seems a small bit louder and more vibrations coming from the front end? possible its not running on four cylinders or coil pack? any help appreciated thanks

Read the fault codes, have a little look on here for the paper clip test

thanks omega_man but how do i run the fault codes? i know with some engines theres a crossover you can do with the diagnostics but im new to omegas :)

You need to cross connections on the diagnostic connector with the ignition off and the light will flash the codes out. There is a picture on here somewhere of which ones to cross but i'm fairly sure it's the 3rd and 5th up. But check first :y

ok just done it thenow and got two faults, the first was 1 flash followed by 2 flashes? the second fault was 7 flashes followed by 1?

12 is the start of the sequence. 71 is the air temp. sensor. Any odd temp readings on your dash display :question

no rob just the engine warning light is all? where is the air temp sensor located?

Its a 2 pin item mounted in the air duct between the air fliter (large box front left of the engine bay) and the throttle body.

There is also a 4 pin connector which is the MAF, you want the 2 pin one  :y

Check the wiring and make sure its connected ok
