Head light wirrring noise
« on: 14 April 2009, 15:46:44 »

Hi all,
I have a problem with my 2000 CDX V6 in that when I first start it up for about 30 seconds there is a loud whirring noise that I think is coming from the n/s front area somewhere.
This noise started along the time a warning came on my dash.. Cant remeber the exact message but something like FLd/Vision chk or something.
I came across a post that said this is to do with the autoleveling lights getting stuck / broken.
Do you guys and girls know of a post that details the removal of the light to inspect this unit?

Cheers Rod

You won't need to remove it as the adjuster motors bayonet into the rear of the headlight, see this thread........

If you find that you need to remove the headlight then there is a maint guide here.............

Field vision code means HID headlights have autolevelling fault.

Either sensor on nearside wishbone (assuming yours is a facelift), if not one on rear nearside suspension as well.  Check arm not popped out.

Or levelling motors in headlights not working.

could it be a coincidence that the fault message came up ? Whirring on the n/s is possibly the SAI with worn bearings isnt it ? For the OP, the Secondary Air Injector runs for about 30 seconds after engine start and injects air into the exhaust to make the cats work more efficiently while they warm up. As they age they start to get noisy.

My last miggy grumbled and groaned, my current one sounds like a fighter jet. You can disconnect the SAI it wont throw a fault code and wont make any difference to anything. Later models didnt have them IIRC

and just in case it is the headlight, on my miggy if I start the engine with the headlights on they both dip down then rise up again (its very quick so you have to keep your eyes open!), so park it against a wall in the dark and do this first to see if one or both of them are moving (or not as the case may be)
