A couple of questions.
« on: 23 March 2009, 08:50:23 »

Hello all,
I'm trying to get my 2.5 elite back on the road, its been sitting for 6 months or so. I turned the key after checking fluids etc and there was nothing on the key. I decided it must be the battery so changed that, still nothing. I have weeping cam cover gaskets and there is oil in my plug wells. Is my dis pack dead?
Also a non miggy question. My daughters pug 1.1 is over heating flushed engine changed thermostat, rad is good - still getting hot any ideas.
Thanks folks  :y :-? :-?

Hello, no it isn't turning over. Not sure about the ignition light I didn't think to look, but there certainly were some lights on the dash. :-?

As well as checking the cooling system, shift the focus to the rest of the engine and check the ignition timing, mixture, and anything else which could cause the engine to produce too much heat.  I knew a motor some years ago that was overheating like mad, whatever was changed on it.  It was eventually traced to the timing being severely advanced - there was nothing wrong with the cooling system, but the engine was producing so much heat that the cooling system had no chance of shifting it.

Not sure about the mig but suggest that the pug could have an air lock, try running the car with the coolant cap off and heaters on, I would imagine at the moment the heaters aren't blowing hot. Try reving the car a little as I've found this helps get air locks out, when heaters become very hot then replace the coolant cap - hope thats of help.

Sorry about the delay in responding, I've been away. There is no click and the ignition light is on, could the starter motor be stuck / seized ? :-/
