running temp?
« on: 17 April 2009, 23:53:11 »

does anyone know what temperature should a 2.5td run at?

im having doubts that my temp gauge is working as it sits at the bottom slighty above the first line. have only drove it bout 30 mile so aint to sure if it would go up any in traffic conditions

thanks

Thermostat could be jammed open, and thus the engine never warms up as its always been cooled by the radiator.

All Omegas, if fact pretty much any car, should run around midpoint on the gauge, no matter what the markings are on the gauge.

In this case, the stat is buggered.  Fortunately, dead easy to replace on the 2.5 BMW tractor unit, assuming that stupid bloody pointless fan comes off easy.

And while you have the stat out, consider changing the waterpump, as they are a real weak point on that engine.
