Still a small coolant leak coming from under the plenum/back.  I changed the HBV 6 months ago so it cant be that.  I torqued up the coolant bridge pretty good so it cant be that..

I can only think its the thermostat housing....  :-/

Looks like I'll have to redismantle

Did you replace the four rubber washers on the water bridge over on the back of the heads  :-/

 Yup all new, waited well over 24 hours before refilling with coolant too  :-/

Well i'd strip back down to HBV so you can see in the back of engine, block the two pipe's that go on plenum. then manualy pump coolant systerm upto 14 psi and might or should find your leak...

its a lot better than its was, it used to gush out the back and the oil cooler plate had deffo gone.... I think its the thermostat housing but I will have a look

You would have seen that when you done the oil cooler.. :-/

i been getting info for doing my oil cooler too. and i remember mark dtm saying if there a leak from the thermo housing to seal it with the same sealant you use on the oil cooler plate. i think that s right? :-?

You may have "scraped" some of the sealant off the cover plate when fitting as its an awkward s*d to get in square.

Remove the plenum and injector manifold/spacer and you should be able to see if its the thermostat housing or the cooler plate.

I resealed my coolant bridge a number of weeks back and thought it couldnt be that what was leaking however on removal of everything it appeared that one of the seals had not seated correctly and was leaking from there so on second attempt was ok.

I then made the presure cap and tested. Glad I did will save a fortune in antifreeze and labour in taking it apart and putting back together. my recomendation would be make a pressure cap and use that its worth it

Surely if the thermostat is at the front it wouldn't be leaking from the back would it?

The engine is sliglty tilted back so yes it is possible for the water to run to the rear of the engine and down over the gearbox.
