Paint Code Location.
« on: 09 May 2009, 20:32:49 »

Where exactly is the paint name/code.

Used a little bit of satin red today and it looks miles away from the cars original finish.

Wondering if i have the right paint !

on door pillar, there's a black plate with VIN code, weights etc. Lower left corner on that sticker. At least on facelifts... some might have the sticker in the engine bay/firewall

I'm pretty sure its Satin Red BUT when i did a little test it looked miles out..Perhaps more of a shake will do the trick.

Is Satin Red a straight colour? If it is it will have faded, red always fades.

But if it has a laquer on top there is no risk of fading.

Thank you for all your advice.  Sprayed her all up today.

Little and often seems to have done the trick. Colour matched better with every coat.
I have amazed myself....anything was better than rust but its really worked out a lot better than I could have hoped.
