I was in work last night and a guy i work with suggested that i spray WD40 into the throttle body to clean it out?? is that right? because i was tellling him about cleaning out the breather system and he said just take off the large black plastic piping that goes onto the top of it and then just spray some WD40 onto the valve put the black pipe back and let it run for a while?? surely that cant be good for the engine? lol
Oh and hes an Audi man , doesnt really now anything about Vauxhalls

I wouldn't spary wd40 down the manifold

Better off taking it off and using proper carb cleaner

so take the throttle body off and just clean that with the carb cleaner? sounds more sensible lol im glad i didnt do it now, i had the can ready to spray but then had second thoughts!!   there was quite a bit of dark black oil around the top part of the throttle body valve is that normal?

Its normal to be dirty if it hasn't been cleaned

If your doing this because the revs are going up and down you'll need to take off the idle control valve and spray inside there

Its a 2.0 but similar the the 2.2. I doubt you'll have to take the IACV apart

no the revs are fine on it, but i was nosing around the engine bay and notice around the throttle body where the black pipe connects to the top there was quite a bit of black sludge leaking out , i gave that all a wipe down, and wiped inside the top of the throttle body to remove wat oil was in there too
No dont ever buy his Audis!!! hes got 2 parked at work and both are shafted , one has a small swimming pool in the back passenger foot wells lol

Spraying WD40 into it is laughable.

WD40 is a water dispersant and will leave a sticky
residue that is likely to attract gunge and build
up problems for you.
