IMHO the main "danger" with using WD40 willy-nilly .. is the simple fact that the carrier fluid is a solvent ....and, as they advertise, it removes sticky stuff really really well..... trouble is ...... this "ability" can have serious detrimental effects on many, many plastics.... it turns some to a horrible sticky goo in a few minutes.

I am NOT a WD40 basher .. it is a useful product, and there is always some in my toolbox, but there is also a spray lubricant ... like 3-in-1 .. and a spray cleaner, usually brake/clutch cleaner, and a "proper" penetrant, like plus-gas.

Use the "right" tool for the job, and you'll have many fewer problems, and these fluids are simply liquid tools.

Just my thoughts nowt else ... but beware the solvent effect of WD40 ... :)
