Blue Smoke
« on: 16 June 2009, 13:47:43 »

Hi Guys,

1998 Opel Omega 2.0 CD

I noticed this morning after dropping kids off to school and the car was at idle for several minutes, that once I increased revs to pull off, Blue smoke from Exhaust. I have checked the plugs and they look OK with no oil disposits on them (yet, they were new in at the weekend). There is no smoke whilst driving, just after it is a idle for a couple of minutes. I am not sure if this is Head Gasket or Oil Rings or something that will cost me less than a pint to fix ???

Cheers

Ian.

How many miles are on it and how often is the oil changed?

2.0's can burn a bit of oil

Hi

Thanks for the comments.
I should of said that it currently has 160,000 on it.
Oil & Filter get changed every 5-6 000.Magnatec is what I always use; Note this car travels to Spain several times a year and spends long times on Motorways  at "around" 120-130 KPH.

When stem / valve guide seals have gone the engine will draw oil down the valguides on overun
as the engine draws in air the throtle buterfly is closed so it basically tries to suck oil down the guides
