Been having trouble with my display showing "COOLANT LEVEL" the last few days, poked around with the float and then checked the sensor  but nothing i did would clear the warning, so last night i unplugged the sensor and bridged with connectors with a piece of wire and the warning has now gone (dont want to have this as a permenant solution) you guys have already suggested i change the header tank which i'll get round too soon, but....i was looking at the handbook and it says that if i have a "COOLANT LEVEL" warning but the level is ok , it means the tempurature of the coolant is too hot? what would cause the coolant to get too hot?  :-/

No, wont be heat, will be the sensor, no heat is taken from here, only further round the system.

providing the temp indicator on the dash is around midpoint, it is fine.

So the fault is with this sensor?, just hoping its the part still attatched to the bottom of the tank, and not the part ive unplugged and bridged which is at fault. Does anyone know if the new tank will come with a new sensor connector at the bottom?

A new tank will come with a new sensor. It is not uncommon for a sensor to go faulty.

yes, VX sell 2, 1 for cars with MID, 1 without, you need the one with, as it is that sensor which is different.

cheers  im guessing the fact that when i bridged the connectors of the part i unplugged the display warning went out, means the fault is with the sensor connector still attatch to the bottom of the tank?

The sensor is a pita as mine only works when it wants to, that sensor tells you that your coolant is to low so if your coolant looks ok its nothing to worry about.
