Front seat broken
« on: 19 July 2009, 22:13:43 »

Hi, the drivers seat on my 2.2 51reg CD has broken. The leccy bit is fine, goes up and down, but the tilt part is knackered. The handle has come loose from the side and the seat doesn't hold its position anymore - it just tilts back and forth as i speed up/slow down.

Can i jam it into the correct position or does the whole mechanism need replacing? I guess the seat itself doesn't need replacing. Any ideas, thanks.

I don't know how easy these are to repair, but I wouldn't risk wedging it. If you are involved in an accident, the seat is a vital part of keeping you alive, a seat swinging forward during an impact will bring you very close to the airbag! (or best case scenerio, could crush you) You only get one face and one life, value it!

Don't worry, intend to fix it asap.

It's just the metal mechanism I need that's between the seat and the floor. Have seen one on ebay - does anyone know if a pre-facelift one fits a facelift model?
