Fuel Injectors & Cleaning

Has anyone ever had there injectors ultrasonically cleaned and it so do you recommend it?

Only reason i ask is i did a little more digging and a false spray pattern can give some of the problems im having (pinking, misfire, lumpy idle).

I also suspect something adrift with the fuel as when i had the engine it was installed with a 4.0bar FPR and putting it back down to standard 3.0bar FPR it made the symptoms worse which i suppose could contribute the injectors not being up to scratch.

Just wanted some feedback on this and also if there is someone local to the midlands who might do it.

I have had a set cleaned before.

I believe I used these guys http://www.injectorcleaning.co.uk/index.htm. Injectors were only gone a couple of days. They turned up in the post a few hours after I'd fitted the spare set to get me mobile again. ;D

You get a report on flow rate and spray pattern before and after. In my case they weren't too bad beforehand but the set came from a scrap car so I wanted to know they were OK.

Having said this, injector problems are rare so I'd make sure you've covered all the other bases first. If it's just going to be a diagnostic step it might be more cost effective to buy a spare set from someone who's breaking a car.

It may be more than just diagnostic tbh. I have got threads up all over the site with problems i have had, but there are no electrical faults now, fault codes etc.... and like i say when changing the FPR back to standard it made the misfire/pinking return. That makes me think that the extra fuel pressure is what was pushing the petrol through. I am also going to change the fuel filter see if that makes a difference.

Im only in costa-del-tipton ross,but unfortunately havent got a spare rail. :y

I had mine cleaned after a recommendation from Kevin Wood and as said returned very promptly with full report and all new[size=14] o [/size]rings.

  They certainly seemed to make a difference to the smoothness of the engine and only cost about £65 IIRC(they do suggest that you don't leave them off the car for to long as they could seize up) :y

Without me having to get one out and check part no's, does anyone know if injectors from the2.5/2.6/3.0/3.2 are the same? If not how many variations there are?
