Help! Omega keeps running like a V4!
« on: 28 August 2009, 20:31:46 »

A few times recently the car has decide to start misfiring. It normally lasts for maybe 2-3 seconds or so and then sorts itself out. Until yesterday it has only happened within the first 20 seconds of starting it from cold. However yesterday it did this for maybe 10 seconds or so, while I was waiting at the traffic lights that were a good 2-3 mins drive down the road! When they changed to green I had to go (misfiring or not!) – and half way across the junction it sorted itself out and has been fine since!?!

When this happens, the engine light comes on straight away. I read the codes a couple of days ago and got a long list, so I just reset them all without noting any down.

Yesterday, I reread the codes again expecting to find one or two codes, but again got a list!

Total number of fault codes: 6

00133 - Intake Manifold Valve 2 Voltage Low
Not present

00074 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High
Not present

00062 - Fuel Tank Ventilation Valve Voltage High
Not present

00034 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage High
Not present

00061 - Fuel Tank Ventilation Valve Voltage Low
Not present

00033 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage Low
Not present

Strange as 99.9% of the time it’s running spot on, the 0.1% it isn’t, and it throwing loads of codes up? Any ideas on where to start on that list? :-/ :-?

Most of these codes are probably historic.  Would perhaps be better to have them cleared and the car re-run and then the codes re-read to see whats current.

edit - just saw that you previously cleared the codes and they returned....   :-[

Does your previous 'long list' compare to this one or what?

TB - I didn’t note down what the codes were before I reset them, however I do remember the EGR + MAF been in the list the first time round so assume it was probably very similar if not the same..

Jimbob - I assume battery is perfect, as a couple of months back I pulled it out of my diesel Elite which had been parked up for a while. Then used it in my caravan for a long weekend with all the lights/water pump on etc (even left the light on all night in the bog - woops!), returned home fitted it back in the diesel expecting it to be flat, and it started straight up!   (Few days later I swapped it with my petrol battery since I knew it was a strong en!) :o   :y

Alternator wise, Diagnostics shows between 14-14.4 ish so that seems fine too?  :-?

Don’t think its misfired since I posted the problem up, but the engine light has flickered on and off the odd time.

Will try to read the codes tomorrow when I get home from work and see what’s on the list this time!  ;D

Oh and the 133 fault has been popping up ever since I got the car, cant get to the bottom of it??

Having said that, the vacuum pipes are now wired up the correct way, and I also found the one way valve to be fubar in the mini vac tank mounted on the bottom of the intake pipes. The valve deffo works now anyway as you can feel it kick in around 5k.  :y
