Hi all,
Had my Omega about a month now & pretty happy with it - all looking okay - no mayo, no oil where it should not be, no leaks etc. However, went to pick up some stuff from the shops today - as I left the car park, waited at a junction on a steep hill for about a minute, then pulled away. All okay at first, but when I started to ascend the hill at the other side, revs shot up to 5000, and the car no longer felt in gear. As I pulled to a stop, noticed that the yellow spanner warning light was on, signifying that limp mode had been invoked. Sure enough, as I pulled away again, I was clearly in one of the higher gears & the selector lever was useless. I stopped soon afterwards, killed the motor, waited a few seconds and restarted the engine - normal service resumed & no light. I've taken the car for a good run since, and all is well - shifting fine, nice and smooth, no worries. Done the pedal test, and the ECU returns 'P1700 Service Vehicle Soon Request from Transmission Control Module' as the only code. Anyone seen this? Should I be jacking the car up & checking the fluid, or could it mean more ? :-?.... Got a service booked in early October anyways.

It's a 2.6 Auto with 83k on the clock & a good Vx service history.
Cheers, Glenn
