problem with electric drivers seat
« on: 10 October 2009, 14:45:18 »

hi all,
recently purchased a full leather interior to replace my dull grey standard boring velour 1.
Being fully electric with airbags and memory and the standard 1's being just height adjustable, i discovered a few more wires from the new seats.
Managed to get the passenger seat in and working ( but without the airbag), but the drivers seat has now caused me a big problem...
Because i only have 2 connectors coming from the car for previous seat connection and 4-5 from new seat, im a few over!
With the passenger seat i just connected the 1 for power which is now great but when trying to connect the drive 1 ive managed to touch the wrong wire - ooops! - which scared the crap out of me when the airbag decided to blow out the side of the seat!! This has also caused the seat belt tensioner to go aswell.
Needless to say, im now left with a seat that i still cant get power to and 3/4 of a leather interior in my car which the missus and child are benefittin from, although i do have the headrest fitted to my seat which makes me feel a bit better.!!!

Anyone any ideas on how to fix this seat an get power to it, or is it ready for the nackers yard and cant be repaired?
Would it be cheaper to ust pick up another drivers seat to match??
Many thanks
Mark

You can change the airbag, it's a seperate unit in the seat and you can swop the pre-tensioner from your old seat if you're careful. Have a look in the manitenance guides, there's a guide to wiring a full elec seat in there somewhere :y
