injector pump
« on: 13 October 2009, 21:36:11 »

Hi there guys.  I was wondering if my 2.5td stalling problem is related to the well known hot starting problem that the td is famous for.  Can any parts be bought for the injector pump?  My problem is obviously caused by some sort of sensor or potentiometer in the pump being faulty causing the engine to stall whenever any load is put on it at idle (steering movements, using any electrical power, putting into gear etc)  If i coiuld get hold of the part at fault I'd save having to get a whole new pump.

cheers

I have the hot start issues and it just never starts when hot, not without alot of turning over. I have the hot fix kit to fit on mine when I get round to it ::) A few people on here have said it sorted theirs. Not sure if it the same problem as yours though as mine never stalls :-/ do you have code 64.

I don't know what coes are coming up as I'm not sure how you get them from this omega, the plug looks different to the one I saw on a how-to.  I'm sure code 64 was one of the ones that the PO had.  I'd have to check back through the posts he had on here.  I try not to do that though, as I get angry every time I come across the one where he's told that it is the pump that's knackered before he sold it to me with a "minor easily sorted problem"

I don't really have any hot starting problems though, although when it cuts out when it's hot it usually won't start again unless i switch the ignition off completely then it will start without too much fuss, otherwise it will just crank until the battery's dead, I don't know whether that's the same problem or not though?

I'll do a search and see what codes the PO was getting.  I'm sure 64 was one of them though.

Yes 64 was the code that he seemed to be getting most often.  what does the hot fix kit consist of and how much would I expect to pay for it?  If indeed that is what my problem is.

excellent cheers.  That could be a much cheaper option if that works!
Does it sound like i have a problem that that would fix though?  just to recap, the engine runs fine, although the idle is a little irregular when cold.  Whenever any load any load is put on it, putting into gear (auto) turning steering wheel or using anything electrical ie: the rear window demister the engine immediately cuts out, and won't start again when it is hot unless the ignition is switched off completely.

If i could get that kit for the starting bid though it would be worth trying even if it does nothing!
