Just bought a original GM timing kit,for my 03, 3.2 omega, but refering to the (manuals)the belt should have timing marks,mine only has do not crimp and a bar code with the letter G, Am i right to say as long as the writing is the right way up to read on the belt  when fitting, it does not matter,help please.

OK great - in that case, you don't need the marks on the belt. Just use the setting kit to make sure it all aligns correctly.

The marks on the belt is just to help original fitment, they don't do anything more (and don't line up again, after the engine has been rotated).

Nope, it doesn't matter when you fit a new belt - as long as it always rotates that way.

Eg - if you ever take it off for any reason, make sure you fit it in the same rotation as it comes off.

As a matter of good practice, I always fit it with the lettering facing me. That way I know which way to re-fit it, if I take it off for anything...

i'm sure it makes no odds, but i always put the new one on the same way sound as the old one, just in case.

3.2 is easier than the older lumps imho, due to the non adjustable bottom idler, meaning cams 3 and 4 are set, you only need to adjust 1 and 2. Simples. :-)

Thanks, ive just noticed you have lpg, did you fit it yourself? because im thinking about it, but with two kids under 2 i need the boot space, but was wondering about fitting a (donut) tank to the side where the spare goes,and just rely on a bottle of tyre weld  and rac.

yes thats the option i went for as i need the through space to the back seats. Donut tank means less range though, i get about 200 to 210 driving normally, bit more if i stick to the limit ish. But i am lucky as i have a couple of lpg stations quite near my commute. Would  recommend a bigger cylinder across the back seats depending on range to your nearest outlet. The boot is still bigger than most cars even with a cylinder. Also cylinder tanks are cheaper.
