V5 showing correct information for my LPG Omega?
« on: 03 November 2009, 08:03:25 »

Hi there

I have a dual fuel 2.0 16v estate. This was a factory fit LPG from new. However, my V5 says the fuel is petrol. Of course this is also true, but should there not be LPG mentioned as well?

All insurance comparison sites list the car as being petrol, presumably they get the info from DVLC. Do I need to tell them that it is dual fuel?

You have to change it at the time you apply for a new tax disc as the rates are different (by a whole tenner)

Should be registered as Bi-Fuel. Not hard to do AFAIK (I haven't gotten around to doing mine yet ::) ::)) but won't make much difference to you.

Being a 2.0 I doubt it's a Powershift registered Car/Kit combination so no Congestion Charge discount and tax may well be no different either!

Valid point, i was referring to mine a 2002 model.
I was told by the road fund licence dept to apply for change on V5 before renewing tax disc.

I assumed the car was a factory fit at the time of manufacture. It is badged up as dualfuel and has the genuine Vauxhall warning in the engine bay that the car is designed to run on lpg and unleaded petrol. But maybe it was fitted at a later date.
I suppose the best thing to do is speak to Vauxhall to see if they have the details regarding the history.

If its Badged Dual Fuel then it probably is a Factory Fit.

Think Im right in saying Vx fits used the oringinal Fuel Guage for both petrol and gas rather than the Led gas indicators, and theres a red rocker switch for petrol/lpg running.
