Rear Donut Bush Question
« on: 26 November 2009, 20:22:41 »

Hi,

Are these bush part numbers the same for all Migs? Mine is a 98 petrol estate.

Vauxhall : 90447156  (£44.75+ each)

Any idea what the life expectancy in terms of years/miles is guys?

Thanks ........ Rob

i personally have a theory. Bushes dont last much more than 4 years. Have changed all bushes on my 03 52 plate omega except the dif to chassis ones at the rear and i know for a fact they are seperating rubber from metal in places.

General accepted on here that all chassis parts are the same except for mv6 shocks and springs elite self levelling.....afaik. Estates are differant again obviously. So, donut bushes i beleive are the same for the saloon, and presume the estate as well.

Armoured body and hurse get stiffer bushes i beleive.

But dont take my word for it. Please check with your dealer re numbers and models.

Vauxhall Parts Warehouse stock the exact part for £23=50 each with £6=50 postage a pair,so you can get a pair for the same price as VX stealers are charging.
I am just going to enquire if these are genuine parts as no letters after the part number in their listing.Has anybody tried these before ?or as most things Omega...is it best to buy from the stealers ?

They have just confirmed they are german manufacture with Opel number stamped ..made by Febi...any idea if these are any good or is VX only ..as looking at the job and potential complications don,t want to end up doing it twice.

Have you got any contact details for them please?

Thanks

Neil-MV6.
I did a google search against p/no..90447156 and several suppliers came up,with a link to egay(190352434161) but when I asked about genuine parts they advised me they were Febi, which another listing on the same search had for £11=68 each, although the postage was dearer.
Reason I asked was the large price difference between VX and Febi.(we all know VX are on another planet most of the time with prices)but curious if any body else had used Febi parts with any comments.

Amba.
I really would not say that all vx parts are expensive. Oil and plugs spring to mine straight away as being good quality and very reasonably priced esp with a trade club card. A couple of other items have suprised me re price although they escape me for a minute.

Granted some prices are extortionate such as springs and wishbones, but remember most pattern parts are made at a cheaper price to that of the original, and quite often are not at all up to spec, even though they claim they are as o.e.
Buypartsbuy and first line wishbones are a prime example.

In short, its a gamble. Parts made by the cheapest bidder. Not for me thanks. Although a cheap source of genuine parts is always usefull obviously.

Apart from anything else i dont want to be doing the job again too soon!....Er,Oh yes, this is rear bushes we are talking about ..... Oh the irony ;D

Chris.....totally agree,my blanket statement was a bit unfair on VX as I do agree some parts are very reasonable.Oil/Plugs/Filters all do spring to mind.
As I am no doudt going to be doing the rear donuts bushes sooner than later,as with all jobs,I like to be armed with all the fact and options prior to starting.
Mot last year did point out that they were both worn (11 years old) and am expecting another comment or failure at next Mot in February ,I decided to get all info and parts in advance.
When I searched google several Febi options appeared and as parts were substantially cheaper,as much as 400% in 1 case I thought I would seak advise from those who have done this job before, and see if anybody had any comments on alternative options than VX parts.
I do agreed and stand by the old saying "buy cheap..buy twice".
