MV6 engine swap AC lines
« on: 30 November 2009, 13:25:10 »

I am just about to swap the engine in my MV6 as it has had it, when I start to remove the engine ancillaries I found that the AC lines have quick release couplings but need some sort of Vauxhall tool to undo them. I am removing the engine and gearbox together how can I split the pipes? or should I just remove the ac pump?

Take the pump off. It is illegal to release the A/C gas in to the atmoshphere.

AC system has already been de-gased.

Didn't realise that ;) The quick releases should be push/twist/pull fittings.

so you don't need any Vauxhall tools to seperate them? I have palled back the seal but left them at that stage.

Not quite.

If you look at the couplinsg and remove the rubber dust shields you will see a circlip....remove this and they come apart without using the special tool.

Re-assemble them as soon as you have done this so you know how they go back together and plug the holes with something to stop dirt getting in.

thanks for that, would you also recommend removing the engine & gearbox together rather than tring to split first?
