« on: 04 December 2009, 20:18:22 »

my mega almost failed its mot when the mot tester moved car of the ramp the steering wheel moved towards him.
you can pull the wheel towards you about 16th of a inch he said that it was a fail but he'd all ready printed my new mot [smiley=rolleyes.gif].
is there a ball joint or splicer at the base of the steering wheel just above the fuse box :question.

Is it just the wheel moving or the column?

The column is held on by two bolts near the top(one being a sheer bolt), one above the column about half way down(easily seen if you remove the clocks), and one clamping bolt at the bottom :).

its the one half way down if you pull the wheel towards you the whole lot moves but the shaft to the steering box doesn't.
my mate had his hand up the back of the fuse box whilst i moved the wheel.
I take it you have to remove most off the dash. :-/
I might go to the scrappy and practice on a dead meega first :y

only need to remove the cloocks, mid air vents and the top cover of the steering wheel all cross head but will need flat head to remove the vents out of the mid air vents, when removed should see the bolts and the bar holding the steering wheel shaft on. :y :y
