Boom "Box" Sorted !
« on: 09 December 2009, 14:18:39 »

A while ago I posted regarding the rear box of my 3.0 sounding very loud under accelaration....put down to a cheap one purchased by a previous owner.

For anyone else with the same problem...its sorted.

I simply purchased a couple of cheap "chrome" tail pipes which basically extended the rear exhaust a further 3 inches away from the bumper. The noise appears to have been the "gases" reverberating under the back bumper..problem solved and she sounds like a new car now.

thats interesting, mother tunnies 3.0 does the same, and its got a pattern back box which sits quite far back. Can you post the link to the tail pipes you got?  :y

Hi Tunnie....I just popped in to Wilco...they're only £6.00 each.  Simple slide over the pipes and a single screw fix. NOT good quality I'm sure but it's made one hell of a difference to the exhaust noise.

Guess I'll just have to clean them often....but the loud chav noise was REALLY starting to get to me.

Problem solved now....Yippee !!

I have the same problem with my exhaust, it howls at low revs and on a long journey it is really annoying. The only problem is that it is the single pipe not the twin exhaust system and finding one that fits has turned out to be a problem, any ideas? :-/
