Battery Disconnection - Alarm
« on: 13 December 2009, 16:39:36 »

Try starting this morning and the battery is flat (looks like there was a problem eh!  :P)

Anyway I need to get the battery off to charge it but I'm worried there is some kind of failsafe that sets the alarm off. The key doesn't work in the door lock and as I was worried the fob wouldn't work if the battery on the car gets too flat I've left the rear door unlocked.

Thanks!

1. Loosen connection on battery (I always do the earth first) but leave connected

2. Switch ignition ON  for 5 seconds. Then OFF

3. Run like **** to the battery and pull the loose connection off within 15 seconds of (2)

If it stays quiet congratulate your self. If it gets VERY NOISY ..  you are unfit.

Sorry, one more question - once I get the battery off and lock the car. How can I get in to it with no battery on it and the key not working in the door lock??

I would imagine with great difficulty !!!! Methinks you'll have to leave it unlocked.

The fob/car will probably need resynching anyway before the remote works after the battery has been off for charging.

I'm slightly puzzled as to why the central door locking works but the key doesn't ???

Resync the key?? Any advice on that  :y As you might have gathered, I've never really worked with electronics!

I don't really know, it goes in the lock but doesn't turn - it's a funny key mind so I wasn't surprised.

Car is unlocked at the moment so its no problem really. Lucky I did by the sounds of it
