assuming thats not a typo and you do have a facelift 2.6, i too have never seen pixels fail on the newer shapes.

Are you sure a bulb has not blown? Is one side of the display dimmer than the other?

Never seen or heard that, either pre 1998 the actual ribbon degrades and needs replacing. Post 1998 MIDs are practically bullet proof.

I have a 99 2.5 GLS on a V plate and the display on that has a few pixels out.

I am clueless as to what type of display it is though.  :-/

the one i fixed last week was a 99 model gray plug had same problem came unstuck 10m fix, carfull when putting the screen in dont push down on it until the screen is located proper. (same on all screens). dont pull the strip off just push up if you pull off the strip is nakerd and will need a new one, there are two, one at top and one at bottom.

Very comon on that age, easier to replace than fix. Make sure you get a replacement from the same spec / engine / transmission, otherwise it needs a tech2 update to set it to the correct settings

Very rare on post 98 MIDs (ones with 10 digit radio info). Unheard of actually.

Pre 98 (8 digit radio line), common - ribbon to pcb connection corrodes. Clean it up, jobs a good'un (though very fiddly)

Yeah, pre 98, common.  If you know anyone prepared to clean up the ribbon/pcb connections....

If you replace, it may need programming, unless from same model/engine/gearbox type
